Service in Gander was outdoors. Good thing the weather was sunny!

Something in the back obviously wasn't right.

I think the rear skidplate was banging against something.

We're always good for a show!
This day's competition started to separate out competitors. In the modern competition (post-1977 manufacture), only cars with more that 400hp were able to zero stages, and no modern car was able to zero the Gander and Musgrave Harbour stages. It was becoming clear that the handicap times (base times) were biased such that only a "Classic" car modified with modern components would have a chance of winning overall - stark contrast to Targa Tasmania, and discouraging future manufacturer entries.
We were now consistently running in the top-5 in terms of absolute times on each stage. However, the handicap meant all the fast modern teams placed in the bottom third of each stage's results. Overall, we moved up a couple places to eleventh, with modern cars in front of us in 7th, 8th, and 10th.
